The Road Map provides specific steps that public health can take to address the Alzheimer's crisis.

New BRFSS data show prevalence of cognitive decline and the impact and burden it is creating.

Take action

The Alzheimer's Association has outlined three priority areas of action for the public health community:

  1. Implement the Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map.
  2. Increase early detection of Alzheimer's.
  3. Promote brain healthrisk reduction is the ultimate public health imperative.

A partnership to protect our brain health

The Alzheimer’s Association and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) partnered to create the Healthy Brain Initiative to promote public health knowledge and awareness about Alzheimer’s as a public health issue. Together, we developed an action plan for public health leaders called the Road Map.

An overview of the multifaceted accomplishments realized under the Healthy Brain Initiative and CDC's current priorities is available in the CDC report, The Healthy Brain Initiative: The Public Health Road Map for State and National Partnerships, 2013–2018. An Interim Progress Report.
