As cognitive health continues to gain recognition as an important public health issue, state and local public health professionals will be called upon to translate current and emerging research into practice. Competency-based educational strategies and materials can give the public health workforce the knowledge and skills for this vital role.


Curriculum for use in schools of public health

A Public Health Approach to Alzheimer’s and Other Dementias is a free new curricular resource to help faculty prepare undergraduates for careers in which they need to apply public health approaches to address Alzheimer’s as a multi-layered, growing public health challenge.

Public health professionals: Educational resources

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) discusses key facts and public health implications in its "At A Glance" brief, Alzheimer's Disease: Promoting Health and Independence for an Aging Population. The CDC's Alzheimer's Disease and Healthy Aging Program website has a lot of helpful information and resources, including highlights on CDC's accomplishments in The Healthy Brain Initiative: The Public Health Road Map for State and National Partnerships, 2013–2018, Interim Progress Report 2013-2015.

Alzheimer's Association's YouTube Public Health Playlist is a one-stop source for recorded educational webinars. In addition, the What You Need to Know page has links to a variety of informational resources.
